The 47th Union World Conference Liverpool 26th - 29th October 2016

The Union World Conference opens with fiery display of innovation and research

A spectacular display conveying a serious message took place on the opening day of the 47th Union World Conference on Lung Health, when open fires were lit in specially built miniature housing in the piazza outside the venue.  The housing was built by students from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and the fires were tended by firefighters from Operation Florian; a UK based international humanitarian charity with a mission t.o save lives worldwide.                                READ MORE

PATS MECOR and BREATHE Annual Scientific Meeting held in Malawi July 2016

The 2016 PATS MECOR and BREATHE Annual Scientific meeting was held at the College of Medicine in Blantyre Malawi. A total of 42 students attended the programme. Countries represented at the course were Nigeria, Benin, Malawi, Tanzania, Ethiopia, DRC, Cameroon, Uganda, Sudan, South Africa, Namibia, Guinea, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Zambia. A skilled and experienced faculty facilitated the course and the lectures and other sessions were lively and interactive. Spirometry Training for PATS MECOR course attendees and an Air Quality Monitoring Workshop were held prior to the course with additional Spirometry Training sessions and an Asthma Workshop taking place throughout the week for Health Professionals in Blantyre. The BREATHE Partnership worked closely with Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust (MLW) and Healthy Lungs for Life to deliver a community engagement event at a Primary School in Chikwawa raising awareness of lung health in the local community and surrounding areas. The day was a complete success, lots of people turned out and took part in the activities.
